Throughout high school, Kei was known as the go-to versatile bassist, performing in concert bands, jazz ensembles, and nearly every student-organized rock band. In her sophomore year, she was elected as the Jazz Representative on the high school Music Council, a role she held until graduation, advocating for the jazz community and fellow student musicians. In 2023, she further represented the Edmonton Catholic Schools District (ECSD) fine arts community as a member of the district-wide All-Star Jazz Band.

At the University of Alberta, Kei originally began their post-secondary journey in Criminology before choosing to broaden their academic path and pursue her deeper passion for music and education. They are now entering the institution to work towards a combined Bachelor of Music / Bachelor of Education (Secondary), with a focus on Wind Band and a minor in Social Studies. They study classical double bass under Jan Urke, former Principal Bassist of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Kei actively performs in several Alberta-based ensembles, including the Rocky Jazz String Orchestra, River City Chamber Orchestra, Corpus and Rionel rock bands, and serves as a live-session bassist for Justpeoplewatching. In addition to performing, they frequently give back to the ECSD music community, regularly being invited to do electric and string bass masterclasses at their former junior high, helping younger musicians develop their confidence and technique.

In her free time, Kei enjoys arranging music both for fun and for performance with the Rocky Jazz String Orchestra. She also teaches at two music studios in West Edmonton and takes on private students, helping shape the next generation of musicians.
